Stuffed my car full of gifts for the Rio Lado kids. King's Club is having a party next Saturday and the church has been gathering gifts.

Went out to Burnet to see the live nativity story. Packed in my car Tim, Carl, Anna, Brenda, Emily. Had to wait in line for an hour wrapped around several blocks. It was definitely worth the drive and the wait. Excellent presentation. The volunteers/actors were gracious to keep the village open at least an hour past the official closing until everyone in line had a chance to go through.

We finally moved all our computers into the new office.

Third day of climbing in one weekend. Nelly came out and tried rock climbing for the first time.

Met Wes down at Seismic wall to do a little climbing, then went to Matt's El Rancho for dinner. Then met Sheng and Ryan at Anna's place to watch a movie.

I bought some new 13-watt mini-spiral CFL bulbs to replace my 60-watt bulbs. $9.99 at HEB for a 4-pack. I want to do my part to solve the world's energy problems.

First time since my ankle injury.... rock climbing with Frank and Anna at Fern Bar. A little weak, but okay.

First day of work - moving furniture from storage to the new office

Volunteer at FEFC's fall festival. Kiddie pool filled with styrofoam peanuts. 4 year old kids digging for candy treasure with little plastic shovels. The highlight was when one little girl dove in and tried swimming.

Signed lots of papers for tax, health insurance, employment agreement... to get ready to start my new job next week.

Saw the doctor for my ankle. Everything looks good. He gave me a sheet of exercises to rebuild my ankle. Hopefully I'll be back to normal activities in a few weeks.

I went to a service project to help some elderly people in the community with home repair projects. Putting down linoleum tiles is sticky business. After a long day trying to get it to look okay, I'd rather leave this to the experts. That adhesive is nasty... impossible to get off clothing... and I'm still finding sticky bits in the hair on my legs.

Working on my ratings program. Trying to get most of the database to fit in 1 GB memory.

I still can't drive, so I had to get a ride to church today. Bixler is a great friend.

Today was Mark Tucker's wedding. I was unable to attend with my ankle.

This morning I was supposed to go to Rio Lado, but with my sprained ankle I wouldn't be able to run around and play with the kids. Bixler came over and picked up the toys. He brought it back in the afternoon with a stack of get well cards from the kids. That was awesome. I was disappointed that I couldn't go and it was encouraging to know that somebody noticed.

Okay, it's the morning after and I cannot put any weight on my right foot without sharp pain. Appointment with Dr. Garcia at 3:15pm (Texas Orthopedics). This is the same doctor my mom just got finished seeing after breaking her ankle. It's a crazy turn of events. Six weeks ago I was driving my mom to her appointment and now she's taking me. The doctor must think we're a family of klutzes.

Monday was the first night of the fall season for my co-ed volleyball team "Real Ultimate Power". Early in the first game I came down from a jump and twisted my ankle like I've never done before. I fell to the ground and couldn't stand on it. Taylor was out of town, so we had to play with a hole. We were doing pretty well up to that point, but that didn't last.. I had to sit on the sideline and watch us lose. It felt like I let the team down. Jorg's twin daughters were there to keep me company singing songs about Pricess Leia and Amidalla.

Sunday evening a group met at Brenda's house. We prayed especially for Sandy and Brenda's upcoming trip to India. Also for Sheng and his recent car accident.

This was Frank's first outing after recovering from his fractured heal. I did a trad-lead on Guide's Wall and Frank seconded. After that we mostly sat around and talked. Then went to Whole Foods for lunch and did some interesting people watching.
